New Blog, New Domain, Same Old Crappy Posts

Once again, I change my domain, first I started with ammar-ibrahim.com, then ammaribrahim.com & now ammar.me. I’m really thrilled about switching to wordpress, and I tried as much as I can to make the design clean and usable. There’s a lot more to do when I have some time.

The Books Arrived!

As I mentioned earlier, I started learning Cocoa & Objective-C. I’m a bit old school when it comes to learning new technologies. I like to get a bunch of books and read them cover to cover. Finally, I received the order yesterday! I got 4 amazing Cocoa/ObjC books. I’m gonna start by reading “Programming in Objective-C“. Let the fun begin!

Reviving My Blog

Ahhhhh, finally after one hard day of work, I managed to migrate my blog from serendipity (s9y) to wordpress. Few years ago, I did the opposite. The reason I’m back to wordpress is because s9y wasn’t friendly at all. It was difficult to update the system, work with plugins, and many other issues. I’m glad I’m back on wordpress, it’s one hell of a platform. The usability aspects of it, are just beyond reason, it opened my mind to many great ideas. I just love the design of the admin interface and how smooth everything is. It’s so yummy!

I’ve done a lot of hacking and a bit of coding to migrate the old content. I faced many problems specially with Arabic characters I had in some entries. Unfortunalty, the old links don’t work, but this will be fixed tomorrow. If anyone is interested, I can blog about it, but it’s a long process, and I doubt it’ll help anyone :)

I hope I will be blogging more, there’s a lot that I want to share. Recently, I’m learning new exciting technologies, programming languages and creating new products. Besides all the tech. stuff, I’m learning how to manage people, something I have been putting a lot of effort into understanding. I feel it was one of my biggest achievements last year.

The design & functionality of the blog are far from finished, I will be fixing this baby whenever I have free time. Stay tuned!

Help Gaza!

The fantastic guys at 7iber.com are organizing another campaign this week to help Gaza. They need money to buy some expensive medical equipment and they need a lot of volunteers to sort and package the donations they are receiving (food, clothing, …etc).

Check out the campaign on 7iber.com

Gaza, my first entry.

Like all cowards, I sit and watch the news everyday. Devastated by the horrible scenes of the Israeli massacre in Gaza. Besides donations, protesting, writing Facebook status messages (in hope that my European and American friends would notice what is going on), and grief i don’t know what to do. To be honest, I feel that everything I done, is useless. What can we do? Can someone give me a proper solution on how we can do something that actually makes a difference?

I’ve never felt as helpless, as useless.

Fixing the annoying “This accessory is not made to work with iPhone” message

I have an iPod accessory/connector in my car to recharge and play music to the car’s stereo system. Whenever I connect my iPhone the phone goes crazy and keeps giving a pop up, even if I unplug it, the message pops up every minute, and it really is annoying. After searching, and testing alot of methods, I found this to be the best method. Credit goes to (Suondmao), I edited the description to make the steps easier.

  1. Download this file (iapd patched for version 2.1).
  2. Extract it
  3. SSH to your iPhone
  4. cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/IAP.framework/Support
  5. then back up the current iapd using this command: mv iapd iapd.bak
  6. copy the patched file you download to this path
  7. Set the file permissions of the new iapd to 755
  8. Reboot iPhone

Update: Thanks to Tim (comment below), this also works with 2.2)

My Favorite Pro Palestinian Song

My problem with most pro Palestinian songs is that they have lots of religion, violence and annoying thoughts. But two artists have remarkably created a very nice form of art based on the cause. Marcel Khalifeh and Ahmad Qabour are my favourites in this area. For many, many years, I have been enjoying and feeling the strong emotions in the fantastic songs the two composed. I love how they focues on the human issue above anything else. My favorite song happens to be a song by Qabour which I found on YouTube today, I really hope you enjoy it, and I highly recommend you check his other songs provided below the embedded video:

Ommi – Ummi (My Mother) أمي – مرسيل خليفة

I need your opinion…

I’m not sure if you guys follow the local stock market (Amman Stock Exchange). If you do, I would like your opinion on few things:

1- Do you like the current site?

2- Can you find information you are looking for easily?

3- What kind of functionality/pages do you use most?

4- What are the problems, and how can they be fixed?

5- If the ASE redesigns the site, what would you like to see?

Thanks in advance.
